Capcom will release next gen upgrades for Resident Evil 2,3 and 7 later this year

Capcom has just confirmed via its Twitter handle that it will release next-gen upgrades for its Resident Evil 2,3 and 7 titles for free. Meaning, players who already own these games on a PS4 or Xbox One will be able to upgrade to the PS5, Xbox Series X/S version without any additional cost.

An upgrade patch for all three games will also hit the PC version at no additional cost along with next-gen consoles. There is no detail from the studio regarding whether players who own Resident Evil 7 on their PS4/PS5 through the PS Plus collection will also be eligible for the next-gen upgrade.

There is still no official confirmation surrounding the timeframe, it only mentioned ‘later this year’. As is the case with most next-gen upgrades, the games will probably allow players to toggle between Performance and Quality Mode.

Since the release of Resident Evil 7, Capcom has achieved quite a bit of success. The same goes for the remakes as well as the sequel, Resident Evil Village. The future of the series looks incredibly bright and it will be quite interesting to see where the studio chooses to take the series next.
