Google is developing its Tensor 3 CPU and Samsung reportedly working on Exynos 1380

Google and Samsung are reportedly already working on a third-generation Tensor SoC, which will power the Pixel 8 series next year, according to a claim from GalaxyClub. While it comes as no surprise that Google and Samsung will continue to work on their joint venture, Google has had a history of killing off a few projects.

After all, the first Tensor chipset isn’t exactly competitive with Qualcomm and Apple’s offerings. However, things might alter in the future. The benefit of the Tensor, though, is that Google is free to customize the SoC to its requirements. For instance, the Pixel 6’s strong camera AI capabilities let it provide a number of cutting-edge functions.

The Exynos 1280 successor, a mid-range processor utilized in some of the company’s low-priced products, reportedly under development at Samsung, according to the same report.

There isn’t much information in the leak, so all we have is the Tensor 3’s S5P9865 model number and the fact that it’s being tested on a developer board with the codename “Ripcurrent”.
