Google Pixel 7, 7 Pro and other Pixel devices details surface alongside camera sensor details

You’re in luck if you were curious about the particular camera sensors that Google’s upcoming Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro would employ since a resourceful developer has gone searching for that information in the depths of Google’s source code. Although the business has obscured all the sensor names in the code to prevent leaks like this, Kuba Wojciechowski, the source of today’s revelation, claims that sensor IDs may still be located and linked to physical components using “different resources, such as camera drivers on GitHub”.

So let’s get started. Similar to the Pixel 6 and 6 Pro, the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro both feature the Sony IMX381 as their ultrawide sensor in addition to the Samsung GN1 as their primary camera sensor. Both variants now have the same selfie camera, a Samsung 3J1 with an 11 MP sensor and dual pixel autofocus. The Samsung GM1 telephoto sensor is a new addition to the Pixel 7 Pro. The IMX586 chip from Sony was utilized by its predecessor.

It’s interesting to note that a third smartphone, one with the codename Lynx, is mentioned. The same GN1 primary camera sensor is used here, along with an unspecified Sony IMX787 that is possibly a telephoto lens. This one has a brand-new Sony IMX712 selfie sensor with a 13 MP resolution. This Lynx device may be a Pixel 7 Ultra or it might simply be a hardware platform used by Google to test various camera sensors when they are made available by vendors.

The Pixel Tablet, which we will now discuss, features two Sony IMX355 sensors: one on the front and one on the rear. This is, incidentally, the same sensor that the normal Pixel 6 uses for its selfie camera.

Last but not least, the next Pixel foldable features a Samsung GN1 primary camera sensor, a Sony IMX386 ultrawide, an IMX363 as well (telephoto maybe), and an IMX355 – once again, the same one utilized for the Pixel 6’s selfie snapper, so this will most likely also be utilized for that.
