Mass production of M2 powered MacBook Pro 14-inch and MacBook Pro 16-inch starts later this year

According to an update posted by Apple analyst Ming Chi-Kuo, new MacBook Pro models will go into mass production in Q4 of 2022 and despite conflicting claims, the new M2 Pro CPU may wind up using a 5nm technology.

TSMC produces Apple’s M-chips, but according to the chip maker’s forecast, 3nm chip sales won’t start until the first half of 2023. The timing of prior reports and rumors concerning Apple’s M2 Pro processor being manufactured on the 3nm process does not match up with the anticipated release of the company’s new MacBooks somewhere in Q1.

Kuo’s findings are consistent with earlier rumors that the M2 Pro chips will go into production at the end of the year.
