Motorola demonstrated its concept rollable phone at Lenovo Tech World 2022

There are several indications about upcoming Motorola and Lenovo gadgets at the Tech World 2022 conference that Lenovo is presenting. Luca Rossi (Lenovo Group EVP), who demonstrated a rollable concept phone that can stretch vertically from a 5-inch tablet to a 6.5-inch tall screen by pressing a physical button on the side, gave one of the event’s more memorable demos.

When you view videos, the content on the rollable smartphone will also automatically extend the screen, and Lenovo is still exploring additional potential use cases.

The rollable phone is now merely a proof of concept, even though Motorola and Lenovo currently offer devices with flexible OLED panels, like the Motorola Razr smartphone series and the ThinkPad X1 Fold 2022 notebook. Both businesses will keep developing new flexible OLED panel form factors and applications.

A rollable laptop being developed by Lenovo will have a screen that expands vertically for improved multitasking, web surfing, and screen space use.

For the time being, Lenovo withheld any more information on its rollable phone and laptop plans. When these devices do reach the market, we wonder what they will be known as. The rollable phone may be called the Moto Rolla, but let’s not get too excited just yet; it will be at least a few years before these gadgets are available for purchase.
