Redmi Note 12 likely to be powered by the newly introduced MediaTek Dimensity 1080 SoC

The Redmi Note 11 series from Xiaomi was introduced quite some time ago. The Note 11 SE, which is a rebadged Redmi Note 10S from 2021, is the most recent phone the firm introduced in India. The Redmi Note 12 series is anticipated to be on sale some time in 2019. According to tipster Digital Chat Station, the recently released MediaTek Dimensity 1080 series would likely be used in the Note 12 series.

The debut date for the Redmi Note 12 series is uncertain. In the meanwhile, MediaTek released information on the Dimensity 1080 SoC.

A brand-new 5G chipset has been introduced by the Taiwanese manufacturer, MediaTek Dimensity 1080 SoC. The forthcoming Redmi Note 12 series could include it. The information was provided by tipper Digital Chat Station, who claimed that internal phone testing with the processor showed it to have performance comparable to the Snapdragon 778G SoC. On AnTuTu, it supposedly scored over 520,000.

Based on a 6nm technology, the new MediaTek Dimensity 1080 SoC is manufactured. Along with an ARM Mali-G68 GPU, it has an improved octa-core CPU with two ARM Cortex-A78 CPU cores running at up to 2.6GHz. For a better gaming experience, the chipset also supports HyperEngine 3.0 and camera sensors with up to 200MP.

A 50MP ultrawide camera sensor was previously disclosed by the same informant for the Note 12 series. At this time, it is unclear which specific model will use the high-resolution ultrawide sensor. In contrast, the regular Note 12 will include a 2MP macro camera and an 8MP ultrawide sensor.

The tipper also disclosed that the Note 12 series will have a flat frame with squared borders. On the 3C certification page, the Note 12 series was discovered. The listing indicates that the Note 12 Pro+ may enable 210W fast charging whereas the Note 12 Pro is most likely to offer 120W. 67W rapid charging is available for the Note 12 base model.
