The Phantom X, Tecno’s most expensive phone, was unveiled last year. It concentrated on the camera and the display in particular (the primary module included a 1/1.3″ 50MP sensor). There will soon come a follow-up, and it will be the most potent Tecno phone ever.
The Helio G95 was used in the original X; nowadays, MediaTek processors are virtually always used by Tecno. Since then, a few 5G phones with a Dimensity 810 or 900 have been released, but none of them have a true flagship processor.
The firm has officially announced that the forthcoming phones in the Phantom X2 series will be powered by the Dimensity 9000, which is going to change that. Despite being from 2021, it was produced on the same 4nm TSMC node as the Apple A16, Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 and 8 Gen 2. The Dimensity 9000 AnTuTu scores are comparable to those of the original Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 in terms of performance.
A Dimensity 9200 wouldn’t have been the best option because Tecno, even with the pricey Phantom sub-brand, tries to keep prices reasonable and chooses components based on value for money. Additionally, the 9000 is still among the fastest chipsets available.
With phones like the Phantom X, the business has been concentrating on improving its camera technology. With the additional processing power of the Imagiq 790 ISP, the X2 will expand on that. For instance, it will be the first member of the family to enable HDR video from three cameras at once. Additionally, it gives Tecno’s Super-night Mode and other features like multi-exposure HDR more computing power.
On December 7, the Tecno Phantom X2 line will be formally introduced. The number of phones that will make up the X2 family is unknown, as are any other specifics save the chipset.
