Xiaomi Civi 2 will feature a center-aligned dual-selfie camera setup

Today, Xiaomi unveiled Civi 2, a new mid-range smartphone with a focus on selfies, for its Chinese audience. The dual selfie camera, which is housed inside a pill-shaped punch hole that is now in the middle, mimics Apple’s Dynamic Island and is the most exciting feature.

Additionally, this is the first Xiaomi phone to have front-facing LED flashes to support the selfie cameras in dimly lit situations.

The phone offers three memory configurations: 8/128GB, 8/256GB, and 12/256GB. It is powered by a Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 CPU. Full HD+ resolution, a 120Hz refresh rate, and a 240 Hz touch sampling rate are all features of the 6.55″ screen. It has a 10-bit screen and supports HDR10+, Dolby Vision, and the whole DCI-P3 color gamut.

The Redmi and Poco brands have previously produced phones with two front-facing cameras. The Civi 2 is the first phone under the Xiaomi flagship brand to include two selfie cameras. Both of these cameras feature 32MP sensors; the main one has autofocus and an aperture of f/2.0 up front, while the other is for group photos and has a 100-degree field of view.

Four LEDs make up the dual-tone front-facing flash, which is mounted just above the screen in the very thin bezel. Xiaomi claims that its products can adjust to various situations and offer accurate colors. Since the Civi 2 is primarily targeted at those who enjoy taking selfies, Xiaomi is including several AI improvements, a 3D tracking beauty mode, background blur in videos, and a high-end video editor.

On the back, there are three cameras that match the Xiaomi 12 series’ modular design island. The ultrawide-angle camera features a 20MP sensor and a 115-degree field of view, while the main camera has a 50MP Sony IMX766 sensor with an f/1.8 lens. The third camera is a 2MP f/2.4 macro basic model.

The 4,500 mAh battery from the Civi 1s was carried over to the Civi 2, although it now enables quicker 67W charging speeds. It charges through the USB-C connector using the PD3.0 protocol.

Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.2, an NFC chip, and dual 5G connection are all features of the Civi 2. Both a microSD slot and a 3.5 mm audio jack are absent.

White, Pink, Blue, and Black are the four colors available for the Xiaomi Civi 2. Prices for the phone begin at CNY2,399 in China, where they are already available.
