Xiaomi said yesterday that the Civi 2 would be unveiled on September 27 during an event in China that starts at 2PM local time. The business also displayed the smartphone’s back, which features a triple camera setup, the main one of which is a 50MP camera. Today, Xiaomi showed us the front of the Civi 2 smartphone and provided some further information regarding the main camera.
A pill-shaped notch in the middle of the screen on the Xiaomi Civi 2 will house two 32MP wide and 32MP ultrawide cameras. Some of you might be reminded of the Dynamic Island found on the recently unveiled iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max. But that’s interactive, so it’s unclear whether Xiaomi has created anything like with the pill-shaped cutout on the Civi 2.
The Civi 2 won’t be the first Android smartphone to include a pill-shaped cutout for selfie cameras, it’s important to note. Several Android smartphones, notably the Realme X50 Pro, have pill-shaped cuts in the past; they were just not positioned in the middle.
Having said that, Xiaomi has confirmed that the primary camera on the Civi 2 will feature the same 50MP Sony IMX766 sensor that we previously saw on the Xiaomi 12, albeit with an f/1.8 rather than an f/1.9 aperture.
TheChinese company added that the Civi 2’s primary camera’s light intake has grown by 101.8% and its photo-taking speed has increased by 144% when compared to its predecessor. With a 246% boost, the night photo capture speed sounds even more astounding. Xiaomi also alluded to Bionic Eyes Atmospheric Portrait, but provided no further details (machine translation from Chinese).
The Civi 2 will support Dolby Atmos, according to a photograph supplied by Xiaomi, and the top bezel’s tiny flash modules will be placed on each side of the cutout in the shape of a pill to assist users capture better pictures in low light.
With the complete presentation of the Xiaomi Civi 2 still five days away, you can anticipate Xiaomi to release a few additional characteristics of the smartphone to generate excitement around it. The Xiaomi Civi 2 is said to be powered by the Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 SoC.
