Xiaomi officially announced the Redmi K50 Gaming Edition

Xiaomi hosted an event in China yesterday where it unveiled the Redmi K50 Gaming Edition – the first member of the Redmi K50 series and the direct successor to last year’s K40 Gaming Edition. The new handset is powered by the Qualcomm’s latest flagship chipset, Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 and it supports blazing fast 120W charging. It’s also the first phone in the Xiaomi and Mercedes AMG Petronas Formula One Team partnership with a special limited edition of the phone sporting the racing team’s logo and colors.

Just like last year’s K40 Gaming, there’s a pair of physical game triggers on the right-hand side. The phone also comes with Xiaomi’s CyberEngine haptics motor and dual JBL-tuned speakers. The phone features a metal frame while the back is made  from glass.

Redmi K50 Gaming Edition comes with an all-new vapor chamber (VC) cooling solution which keeps the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chip and rest of the handset’s temperature in check. It starts with a copper radiator placed right on top of the chipset. Xiaomi also used dual graphite sheets, stainless steel and mesh material.

Open sales in China are set to kick off on February 18. Global availability and pricing are not yet revealed.
